When the new owners of the Empress Hotel took over six years ago, they undertook a massive $60 million renovation of this grand old lady, restoring the Empress to her former glory. They restored the original architectural elements with modern, elegant touches both inside and out. While not an original to this landmark, but certainly a fitting and yet modern addition, the new port-cochère gives a sense of grand entry to this landmark.

I captured this image 4:30 a.m., intent on capturing the blue, dawn sky, above the hotel. Sadly even at that hour the hotel is active with arrivals and departures and thus was not car free. I hope you enjoy both the black & white and colour versions of this image.
