mystic

What do you do when sitting on a beach under a bright moon? You take out your camera and set it up for a beautiful image. The location is Mystic Beach, an anchor of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail along the southwest coast of Vancouver Island.

The conditions were perfect—clouds, a bright moon, a calm ocean, and most importantly, nowhere near any city lights. In capturing this image using only moonlight as a light source and a long exposure, he has created a dramatic and surreal image. The misty appearance of the water is as a result of the long exposure, capturing the tidal movement of the water as it ebbs and flows. It’s incredible the level of detail that moonlight can provide.
